Green Smoothie to Relieve Pain by Lowering Inflammation
Relieve Pain by Lowering Inflammation
Dr. Bryan Stephens
I really enjoy tropical fruits mostly because of how sweet and refreshing they are in the heat, and I tend to add one or more to my green smoothies in the morning. By adding a bit of pineapple to my green smoothie, I can enjoy the flavor of the tropics and still go about my day without adding inflammation to my body, causing pain. I will give fair warning for this smoothie. It should be used as more of a treat instead of an everyday smoothie. While the sugars in fruit are natural, they still add a lot of sugar to the drink. This can cause a calorie surplus through the day if you are not getting enough exercise and can put an unintended stress on the body. This over time can also create an imbalance of micronutrients if you are not continuing to eat more veggies throughout the day.
All that aside, it still does have wonderful benefits by providing the micronutrients with the spinach, sweetness with the pineapple and banana, and milkiness from the coconut. This also is a great alternative to dairy milk as it will not add the inflammation associated with cows milk. Add the probiotics for the final touch and suddenly you are helping not just the absorption of proper nutrition, but also giving your immune system the assistance it requires to protect against harmful bacteria in the gut. I look forward to giving you more tips next time and hope you continue to find ways to eat better so you can relieve pain by lowering inflammation.
