Pomegranate to Lower Inflammation
Video by Dr. John Wertish
Pomegranates are a powerful fruit that is high in antioxidants that can limit pain by lowering inflammation. What we eat can impact our pain and has an impact on our health and longevity. Fruits, especially pomegranates, are packed with vitamins including vitamin C that help tissue repair. Pomegranates can help with various disease risk factors including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, oxidative stress, hyperglycemia, and systemic inflammation. One of the powerful antioxidants is polyphenols, these have an anticarcinogenic property. These nutrients will fight oxidation in your body and lower inflammation. Here are a few quotes below from a research article about cherries and the impact on our health.
“It was shown that pomegranate fruit could be used in the treatment of human prostate cancer because it could inhibit cell growth and induce apoptosis.”
“Pomegranate can induce its beneficial effects through its various metabolites. The antioxidant and antiatherosclerotic potentials of pomegranate are mainly relevant to the high polyphenol concentrations in pomegranate fruit such as ellagitannins and hydrolysable tannins.”
