Summarized Review of Conclusion:
In this study they concluded that patients with stress could benefit from exercises and other health promotion strategies to help reduce their stress. Chiropractic was one of the strategies taken place in this study. They discussed getting adjusted and doing exercises was one of the best ways to help manage stress.
Below I have referenced key quotes from this research to help summarize the results.
Quotes from the Article:
“It is therefore of relevance to certain chiropractic patients and all chiropractic practitioners that many patients seeking chiropractic care would value advice from their chiropractor on how to better manage stress.”
“There were, however, exceptions to this generalization. In order of preference, patients believed they are likely to routinely use breathing, muscle relaxation, positive self-talk, slowing down, thought-stopping, detached observation, and visualization.”
Introduction to the Research
The purpose of the research was to determine if chiropractic treatment was beneficial for someone with stress.
Research Methodology
A qualitative study of stress management in chiropractic patients, involving sampling of chiropractic clinics, was undertaken. To maximize the diversity of the patient population, practices in diverse geographic and socioeconomic areas were included. Convenience sampling of patients was undertaken in 3 discrete studies. Data from each study were initially analyzed independently to identify trends. Thematic analysis was then undertaken and the results triangulated.
Research Findings
The biggest takeaway from this research is that chiropractic is more than just getting adjusted. It’s about maintaining overall health and staying active. They discussed ways of reducing stress and the way they found easiest was exercising along with chiropractic care. What’s great about this, is how affordable and cheap it is for everyone to be able to exercise for yourself. Walking just 30 minutes a day can prolong your life by five years! Getting adjusted is one of the best ways to managing your stress, but exercising on top of that is always beneficial.
