Lower Your Risk of Cancer

Video by Dr. Travis Downs

Drinking a green smoothie at a young age is one of the best things you can do for your body.  This will not only create good habits starting from a young age but will help decrease your chances of getting chronic diseases as you get older. This research is talking about our fruit and vegetables intake in correlation with cancer risks. It’s pretty cut and dry that the more fruits and vegetables you consume the less risk you have of developing cancer. It’s never too late to start creating these habits, so let’s start today and let’s get healthy!

  • “Fruit and vegetable intake was inversely associated with cancer risk in Mexican-Americans.

Improving the consumption of fruit and vegetable might be an effective area for further research as part of a strategy for cancer prevention and control among Mexican-Americans independent of other factors.”

  • “Our results suggest that diets high in fruit and vegetables, especially rich in vegetables, are associated with lower cancer mortality among head and neck and ovarian cancer survivors.”

  • “Vegetables and fruit contain a large number of bioactive components with potent anticarcinogenic properties. Fruit, especially apples and oranges, are rich sources of various antioxidants including vitamin C, phenolic acids, flavonoids, and catechins, which protect tissues, cells, and DNA against damage from free radicals and subsequently tumor development.”
