Green Smoothie for Inflammation
Video shared by Antonio Flaquer
All of our patients who come into the office are dealing with some type of pain. Our goal is to not only get you out of pain but it’s to understand why you are having pain in the first, what’s causing your pain. There are a couple things we look at top determine why you are dealing with pain. Of course, we look at the structure of your spine and see how your body is responding to certain movements, but we also focus on what you’re putting into your body as well. People don’t realize it, but what you put into your body plays a big role on how fast you get better. If you are continuously eating burgers, pizza, and fast food all the time your body will be in a constant state of inflammation. Inflammation leads to pain which slows down the healing process within your body. It is important to always make sure you are getting in your vegetables and fruits (but not too many) to help fight off inflammation. One of the easiest ways to lower your inflammation is making a green smoothie like I have done for you here. It’s easy, fast, and inexpensive. All of the green smoothies we make are loaded with antioxidants which help to fight off inflammatory processes within the body. They are also loaded with other vitamins and minerals to help improve your blood flow in your body. High cholesterol is one of the leading causes of atherosclerosis which is a build of plaque in the arteries. This is where high blood pressure comes into play and can cause cardiovascular diseases. Along with antioxidants, you need good Omega-3’s to allow your blood to flow at a good rate and avoid a build up of plaque. This is why I always add our essential nutrients within the green smoothie. This recipe is super easy as I mentioned, but more importantly it’s what your body needs to feel the way it should, and function the way it needs to function. Here is some information about the benefits of apples.
“Apple polyphenols, in particular procyanidins and phloretin, demonstrate anti-inflammatory activities in vitro and may function as transcription-based inhibitors of pro-inflammatory gene expression.”
“Another important component of apples which may be, at least partially, responsible for its anti-inflammatory effect is fibre.”
“Additionally, prebiotic dietary fibre can reduce intestinal permeability and uptake of lipopolysaccharides (LPS), an endotoxin released by gram negative bacteria that elicits a strong immune response in humans.”
Recipe:
- Organic spinach
- 1 green apple
- 1 banana
- Handful of organic mangos
- 2 capsules of Omega-3 A-D
- 1 capsule of Probiotics
